Siquijor Hotels — Where to Stay on the Mystic Island

Quiet beachfront, boutique inland stays, and a tiny island that's much easier to navigate than Bohol or Cebu. Here's where to base yourself.

Quick answer: First-time visitors should stay in San Juan — it's where most of the beachfront hotels, dive shops, and travelers cluster. Larena is closer to the ferry port and good for short stays. Lazi is for travelers who want pure quiet and don't mind being further from food options.

Siquijor neighborhoods

  • San Juan: The traveler hub on the west coast. Best beaches (Paliton is nearby), the dive scene, and most of the better-known hotels and beachfront resorts. Sunset side of the island.
  • Larena: Where the main ferry from Dumaguete arrives. Convenient for short trips, but less of a beach vibe. Good for one-night stays before catching a ferry.
  • Siquijor Town: The capital. The other ferry port. Some budget options. Functional rather than scenic.
  • Lazi: South coast. Quiet, near Cambugahay Falls and Salagdoong Beach. Limited dining outside your hotel.
  • Maria: Far southeast — wild, rural, very few accommodation options. For real escape.

Siquijor hotels by budget

Budget — under ₱1,500 / $27 per night

Plenty of small guesthouses across San Juan, Siquijor Town, and a few in Larena. Expect simple, clean, fan-cooled rooms (sometimes aircon). Best for backpackers and travelers staying 2–3 days as part of a Visayas loop.

Mid-range — ₱2,000–5,000 / $35–90 per night

This is where Siquijor offers excellent value. Beachfront cottages and small boutique hotels in San Juan with pools, breakfast, and direct beach access — often for less than half what you'd pay for the equivalent in Boracay or Palawan.

Boutique / upper mid — ₱5,000–10,000 / $90–180 per night

A handful of architect-designed boutique stays have opened in recent years. Expect personalized service, design-forward rooms, and farm-to-table restaurants. Mostly along the San Juan coastline.

Luxury

True luxury is limited on Siquijor — that's part of the appeal. The "highest end" options are upper-boutique with beachfront, not 5-star resorts. If you want full luxury infrastructure, look at Bohol or El Nido instead.

When to visit (and book)

Siquijor's high season is December through May. Book 4–6 weeks ahead for these months, especially around Christmas, New Year, and Holy Week (March/April). Quietest months are September–October.

See the Siquijor weather guide for full month-by-month detail (coming soon).

Siquijor vs. Bohol vs. Siargao — quick comparison

  • Siquijor: Tiny, easy, quiet, great value. Best for couples and slow travelers.
  • Bohol: More to do (Chocolate Hills, tarsiers, more dive sites), more development, more crowds.
  • Siargao: Surfing, nightlife, younger crowd. Different trip entirely.

Booking tips for Siquijor

  • Many small Siquijor hotels are not on Booking.com — check Agoda and Facebook for the boutique stuff.
  • Confirm ferry transfer in writing before you arrive — the port-to-hotel logistics are not always obvious.
  • Renting a scooter on Siquijor is the standard way to get around — pick a hotel that offers it, or a town with a rental shop nearby.
  • Power outages happen. Check whether your hotel has a generator if you're working remotely.
