Siargao Hotels — Where to Stay on the Surf Island

An honest guide to picking the right Siargao hotel — by neighborhood, by budget, and by the kind of trip you actually want.

Quick answer: Most first-time visitors should stay in General Luna — it's the main hub, walking distance to restaurants, and a short tricycle ride to Cloud 9. Surfers serious about the wave should consider Cloud 9 itself. Quiet types and couples should look at Pacifico or Burgos further north.

Siargao neighborhoods at a glance

  • General Luna (GL): The town. Restaurants, bars, surf shops, scooter rentals, and most mid-range hotels and hostels. Best for first-timers and anyone who wants a social trip.
  • Cloud 9: A 10-minute tricycle north of GL. Quieter, surf-focused, and right next to the namesake wave. Good for surfers, less ideal if you don't want to commute for dinner.
  • Pacifico: 45 minutes north. Slow, beachy, almost no nightlife. Beautiful beach. For couples and people who want the "old Siargao" feel.
  • Burgos: The far north tip. Remote, dramatic coastline, very few options. For the truly off-grid trip.
  • Dapa: Where the ferry port is. Stay here only if you have an early ferry — otherwise it's not where the island action is.

Siargao hotels by budget (2025 pricing)

Budget — under ₱2,000 / $35 per night

Most budget options are hostels and basic guesthouses in General Luna. Expect a fan room or simple aircon double, shared bathrooms in some cases, and a friendly social vibe. Quality varies wildly — read recent reviews before committing. Walking distance to restaurants matters more than fancy amenities at this price point.

What to look for: Verified recent reviews (within 6 months), proper aircon if you're going May–November, and confirmed Wi-Fi if you need to work.

Mid-range — ₱2,500–6,000 / $45–110 per night

This is the sweet spot on Siargao. You'll find boutique stays with pool access, decent breakfast, and proper aircon — both in General Luna and along the coast toward Cloud 9. Many of the better-known mid-range stays book out 6–8 weeks ahead during high season (December–March), so don't leave it to the last week.

What to look for: Pool access (it gets hot), proximity to GL's restaurant strip, and a generator (power outages do happen during typhoons).

Upper mid / boutique — ₱6,000–12,000 / $110–220 per night

Siargao has a strong boutique scene — small architect-designed stays, often with a yoga shala, plant-forward restaurant, and a curated surf vibe. Most cluster between General Luna and Cloud 9. This is the price tier where Siargao really shines compared to Boracay or Bohol.

Luxury / resort — ₱15,000+ / $270+ per night

A handful of higher-end resorts have opened in the last few years, mainly in the GL–Cloud 9 corridor. You're paying for grounds, beachfront, and full-service amenities. Honest take: the value-to-experience ratio peaks in the boutique tier — most travelers don't need to spend luxury money to get a great Siargao trip.

When to book Siargao hotels

Siargao's high season is August through April, with the absolute peak in September–October (surf season) and December–March (dry season + holidays). For these months, book 6–10 weeks ahead — the better mid-range and boutique places sell out.

May, June, and July are quieter (and rainier — see our Siargao weather guide). You can often walk in and find a room, but variety is more limited because some smaller places close for the wet months.

Booking tips

  • Compare Booking.com and Agoda — Agoda often has better rates for Philippines properties.
  • For boutique stays, also check the property's own Instagram or website — direct booking is sometimes cheaper and gets you a real human to message about transfers.
  • Confirm airport transfer in advance. Sayak Airport is 45 minutes from General Luna and there's no Grab/Uber on Siargao.
  • Check the cancellation policy — Siargao is a typhoon zone and flights do get cancelled.
